All feedback welcome. =========================================================================== Anime at the Sci-Fi-London festival =================================== Sci-Fi-London is a science fiction and fantasy film festival being held in London in February. Several anime films will be included in the programme, and there will be two special anime events: Anime Special Saturday 02-02-02, Curzon Soho Helen McCarthy, Co-author (with Jonathan Clements) of the Anime Encyclopedia presents a special presentation on the genre. This event will feature some rarely seen anime footage. A Q&A session will follow. This is followed by the UK Premiere of Akira special edition. A completely re-voiced and digitally remastered version. Newtype Anime Wednesday 30-01-02, ICA (Institute of Contemporary Arts), 3.00 - 5.00pm Writer and translator Jonathan Clements presents a history of 85 years of Japanese sci-fi and fantasy animation, including silent fairy-tales, cowardly British ogres, robot superheroes, kamikaze schoolgirls and mutant biker-gangs. A unique opportunity to see some rare film clips, and to trace the influence of the real world on Japanese sci-fi. The first release will be the TV series Blue Gender, which will be released here on video and DVD as well as being broadcast on the Sci-Fi channel. Further information on Bluegender can be found at http://www.bluegender.com Source: MVM --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Metropolis on it way to UK cinemas ================================== The recently produced anime film 'Metropolis', directed by Rintaro from a script by Katsuhiro Otomo has obtained a theatrical release certificate from the BBFC, indicating that a UK cinema release is being planned. Columbia Tristar will be distributing the film, but there is no mention yet of it on any of their websites.
