All feedback welcome. =========================================================================== Blue Sub 6 and Blood to hit UK TV screens ========================================= The movie version of the video series Blue Sub 6 is to make its UK debut on Cartoon Network later this month. It will be shown on 16th November at 5pm and 10pm. (http://www.cartoonnetwork.co.uk) Also lined up for a TV showing is the recently released Blood: The Last Vampire which will be shown as part of Channel 4's 'Hot Reels' animation season that starts next Tuesday. (http://www.channel4.com/plus/hot_reels) --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Brighton to host manga exhibition and conference ================================================ Starting later this month, the University of Brighton Gallery is hosting the Japan 2001 touring exhibition entitled "Manga - short comics from Japan". This exhibition has been seen at a variety of venues around the country, but the Brighton appearance is to be enhanced by a program of related events (http://www.brighton.ac.uk/gallery-theatre): Mad About Manga - Sat 1st Dec, 11am - 4pm Celebrate all things graphical - a day of djs, drawing and doodling in the gallery. Come and have a scribble, learn how to draw manga, watch the experts or just be animated by it all. Suitable for cartoon fans of all ages. Free drop in. Manga conference - Sat 24th Nov, 11am - 5.30pm (tickets £12) A day of talks bringing together leading specialists on manga to share their expertise and knowledge with the audience. Tea time talks (in the gallery - free): Win Wiacek - Fri 23rd Nov, 4pm Formerly at the Forbidden Planet, Win is a freelance comic creator and chairman of the Comic Creators Guild. Win will talk about the relationship between manga as short comics from Japan and the contemporary, highly stylised manga more readily recognised in this country Tony Luc - Fri 30th Nov, 4pm Tony is the first British comic creator to sell an original manga strip to Japan. Based in Brighton, he is now developing his comics into animated works. Tony will talk informally about the process he is going through and give his own definition of manga Kiriko Kubo - Fri 7th Dec, 4pm Kiriko will provide a glimpse into the world of manga. She will talk about her own work as a manga artist, and 'Cynical Hysteria Hour' which was first published in comic form, then made into a series of short animated films (which will be on show) Roger Sabin - Fri 14th Dec, 4pm Roger is author of the well known 'Comics, Comix and Graphic Novels' and lecturer at Central St Martins.
