They include more venues for the 'Manga' touring exhibition, anime film showings, and two other manga exhibitions in Glasgow and London. =========================================================================== Convention News =============== Minamicon 8 has been officially confirmed. Yes, for the eighth year in a row, fandom will be decending on Southampton for what is by far the longest running event in the the history of UK fandom. The convention will be held from 1st - 3rd March 2002 at its usual location, Novotel Southampton. If you can't wait that long, Animecon UK (http://www.animecon.co.uk) is being held in Liverpool from 5th - 7th October this year. With a bigger location and with Helen McCarthy and Gilles Poitras as guests, Animecon is hoping to be at least as big as Minamicon. =========================================================================== Sci-fi Channel News =================== The Sci-Fi channel have announced a tie-in between their next anime season and the release of the computer animated feature film Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within. Final Fantasy will be released in the UK on 3rd August, and starting from 28th July for seven days, Sci-Fi will be showing an anime movie each day, with assorted promotions linking the two together. =========================================================================== Current UK anime video release schedule ======================================= All of the following dates are subject to change.
